Individuals, families, and youth experiencing unsheltered homelessness are at a higher risk of developing a disabling condition and falling into chronic homelessness than sheltered residents. With housing pressures continuing to escalate in New Hampshire (NH), it’s crucial for professionals and community members to stay informed and equipped to address homelessness using evidence-based solutions. In 2020, the NH Council on Housing Stability created a multi-year strategic plan to increase the state’s capacity for affordable housing and services that prevent and end homelessness. One area of need identified in the strategic plan is to support on-the-ground providers and stakeholders serving people experiencing homelessness with best practices training support.
In response to the strategic plan and to help partners across the state use consistent approaches and improve services delivery practices, the NH Council on Housing Stability, NH Department of Health and Human Services Bureau of Homeless Services, Community Development Finance Authority, and NH Coalition to End Homelessness developed the NH Homeless and Housing Stabilization Training & Resource Library: EndHomelessnessNH.org.
This invaluable, comprehensive resource hub offers over 150 trainings and resources with insights into housing best practices, both nationally and locally. Categorized into topics such as motivational interviewing, underserved populations, street outreach, trauma-informed care, rapid rehousing, and more, all of the trainings and resources can be accessed and completed on your own time. By fostering information sharing, breaking down barriers, and promoting accessibility, this collaborative effort empowers all of us to make a meaningful difference in our communities.
