Historic Mill Embraces Solar Energy – Salmon Falls Mills

Located on the banks of the Salmon Falls River in Rollinsford, New Hampshire, the historic Salmon Falls Mills have undergone a true transformation. Originally constructed in the 1820’s for water-powered textile manufacturing, the Mills are now home to a thriving local arts community. Today, more than 100 artists utilize the commercial space for painting, woodworking, dance, and much more.

With the help of a loan from CDFA’s Clean Energy Fund, the Mills have been powered by nearly 500 solar panels since November 2015. In addition to saving an estimated $6,000 in energy costs over the next five years, the solar installation will reduce the Mill’s carbon footprint by 25 tons of carbon dioxide each year.
