CDFA Resources for Municipalities

Community Development Block Grants

Community Development Block Grants enable Municipalities to support community development projects, often in partnership with a nonprofit sub recipient. More than $4 million is currently available. Additional information about the current program and application deadlines can be found on CDFA’s Resource Hub.

CDFA will administer the SUPPORTS Program to meet the housing needs of persons recovering from substance abuse. Please provide CDFA with feedback on needs, see press release.

The Federal CARES Act contains three different allocations of CDBG funding. It is our current understanding that there will be an additional allocation of CDBG funds to the State program based on previous annual distributions. CDFA administers the State’s CDBG small cities program which provides funding to non-entitlement communities (in NH, entitlement communities include Manchester, Nashua, Portsmouth, Rochester and Dover). Given that NH is one of the smaller states and has one of the lowest CDBG allocations nationwide, CDFA does not expect the additional allocation to be significant. The Act provides the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) 30 – 90 days to allocate the funds. CDFA will seek public input on the distribution of the CARES Act CDBG Funds when more information is available. HUD provided Guidance about possible uses of CBDG Funds to support COVID-19 needs, here.
