Notification: 2018 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Housing and Public Facilities Round 2017-10-26
The Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) will not be having the January 2018 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Housing and Public Facilitates grant round. This will enable the organization to align its awards with the anticipated receipt of its fiscal year 2018 funding allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The 2018 deadline to submit CDBG Housing and Public Facility applications is expected to be on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. All applications must
be received by CDFA through its online grants management system (https://nhcdfagrants.org/
As background, funding for the CDBG program is provided to New Hampshire via Congressional appropriation through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It is anticipated that several factors at the federal level will delay timely passage of a fiscal year 2018 budget, and therefore, timely distribution of allocation amounts to CDBG program administrators across the United States. As a result, CDFA is forced to limit its funding rounds amidst this fiscal uncertainty.
Please check CDFA’s website regularly for additional application submission announcements, funding availability and workshop notifications.
Additional Information on the CDBG Program
Title 1 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 authorized the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The primary purpose of the CDBG program is the development of viable communities by providing decent housing, suitable living environments, and expanding economic opportunities, principally for low and moderate income people. The program is sponsored by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the New Hampshire program is administered through the Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA).
In 2017, the New Hampshire CDBG program received approximately $8 million from HUD to use for CDBG Programs including Housing, Public Facilities, Economic Development, and Planning (Feasibility) Studies.
